Young people with intellectual disabilities is a group of learners who to date have not had many college course options available to them.
The Creative Pathways for All is an exciting 18-month college course delivered over two years that will run over two days per week from 10am-2pm. The course will follow the college timetable of classes from January to April and September to December. There are 10 places available on this course and there are no fees.
The first module called Learning to Learn will support each student to transition to college life, the independence that it will offer and new ways of learning. Other year one modules that students will learn include photography, design and art in practical workshop classes.
Year two of the course, Work Readiness, will focus on work taster or work placement learning. Students will learn about work skills, how to create a curriculum vitae and how to use LinkedIn. A work placement or work placement taster option will complete the learning in year 2 of the course.

This module’s objective is to allow learners to explore a range of creative disciplines (film, art, design and photography) and to work with students and staff across IADT on creative projects.
Semester one will focus on employment skills assessments, creating a curriculum vitae and learning how to use relevant sections of LinkedIn so students can showcase their learning and learn to create some industry connections.
Semester two is focused exclusively on work placement from January to April, ideally in a creative industries work placement setting. Work placements will be sourced and approved by the college for every student. During work placement students will be supported by both a work placement mentor in the company and by a work placement mentor from IADT. The work placement module is an excellent opportunity for students to gain confidence in their work abilities and get experience in an area of creative industries that appeals to their personal interests.
